10 super-cute ways to upcycle on campus!

Did you know that reducing how much you buy can help the environment? Instead of jumping in your car (hello, carbon emissions), and heading to your go-to mecca for all things cute, give upcycling a try.
When you make something from an item you already have, instead of buying something new, a little less smoke comes out of a factory, and the earth loves less smoke. And, when you DIY instead of buy, fewer of earth's natural resources get used up. Fun fact: it takes 400 gallons of water to grow the cotton used to make one t-shirt. Also, one paper plate takes 8 gallons of water to make, so you might wanna not buy those anymore. (Sorry, Earth!)
Ok, so now that we made the dolphins cry, let's get started. Take a look around your dorm, grab a couple sweaters and t-shirts (Make sure they're not your roommate's! *ahem), put on some tunes (with DIY #4), and let's go!
1. Grab that sweater that shrunk in the wash, or one that has a hole in it, and turn it into a must-have beanie.

2. Midnight cereal binge-fest during finals? Use all those empties to organize your make-up drawer.

3. Make this "that's so Urban Outfitters" bowl out of worn out jeans.

4. Make this iPhone speaker with used solo cups from last Friday night.

5. No pets allowed in the dorm? Make these sweet little desktop companions from empty pop/water bottles. Because you use a reusable water bottle now anyway, right? Right???

6. Save all the tissue paper from your Christmas and b-day presents, and turn them into instant (and free!) dorm décor.

7. Bringing a not-so-expensive bottle of wine for a hostess gift? No worries. At least it'll look like a pricey pinot noir in this DIY bottle wrap made from that sweater you never wear.

8. Have lots of cousins, but not lots of cash for gifts this year? Find another old sweater (ikr?) and make this super-luxe looking décor trio. Ok, you might wanna hit Goodwill because honestly there are a lot of sweater DIYs here. Fun fact: Buying from resale shops helps keep factory smoke down and reduce water waste, too! When you buy resale, you are reducing demand for new products.

9. Math 101: College life = lots of t-shirts. This DIY earns you extra gold stars, because it doubles as an earth-saving device. Upcycle an old t-shirt into a reusable market bag. Just say no to plastic at the checkout, because you've literally got this.

10. You know you need this cactus pillow in your life. (Hint, you can use a glue gun for the seams instead of sewing. We won't tell.)

Hope you enjoyed these fun upcycling DIYs! Check back for more epic college life hacks :)
